With the New Year here, it’s time to start thinking about your upcoming home improvement projects. One of the most common rooms to renovate is the master bathroom. Seventy-eight percent of remodeling projects are bathroom-focused—and for good reason. A bathroom remodel is an excellent way to add value to your home and increase livability. If you’re planning to renovate your master bath, guest bath, or powder room, take a look at our Bathroom Remodel Wishlist for 2016.
Bathtubs are not a relic of the past. They are designed with more integrated luxury options than ten years ago. One of our favorites is the BainUltra Naos, a ThermoMasseur tub. This tub includes a heated back rest and antimicrobial surface, and unlike traditional whirlpools, this tub dries completely after use.
Kallista Per Se Faucet
As with most handmade items, the quality is better with hand-forged faucets than cast faucets. These faucets are lead-free, stronger, longer lasting, and feel much more solid. If you’re ever wondering what a solid faucet feels like, stop by our showroom and lift a display hand-forged faucet. You’ll immediately sense the difference.
Kallista Thermostatic shower on display in our showroom.
Thermostatic showers will heighten your showering experience. Thermostatic valves prevent scalding and can keep the water within .3 degrees of your desired temperature. They also allow for plenty of water volume to power multiple accessories (showerheads, handheld shower, and body sprays) simultaneously.
Nothing beats emerging from a hot, steamy bath and stepping into the warm embrace of a heated bath towel. Improving the little things in life often make us feel the most luxurious. This easy to install electric towel warmer from Myson integrates simply into any bathroom through an outlet.
No longer for gyms and spa retreats, steam showers are available for the home bath. There are many benefits to steam bathing, including:

No need to dread toilet time when you have a Kohler toilet with AquaPiston flushing technology. AquaPiston is Kohler’s patented gravity-fed flush that virtually eliminates clogging and makes for a longer rinse and cleaner bowl. Water enters the valve from 360 degrees, creating a smooth, consistent water flow from all sides, increasing the power and effectiveness of the flush. The AquaPiston design and seal also eliminate leakage problems commonly associated with traditional rubber flappers.
The Duravit SensoWash
The European bidet seat is finally making its way across the pond. With an antimicrobial, heated seat and blow-dryer, this bidet seat combines the very best of luxury and hygiene. The SensoWash from Duravit also has a remote control with programmable user settings. If you have a more traditional aesthetic, Kohler also makes a bidet seat.
Roda shower doors
Roda shower doors are manufactured right here in Ohio. They come in a variety of styles and are customized to fit your space. One of the greatest benefits of a Roda shower door is that they can be made in ½ inch thickness, creating a more secure (less wiggly) close.
Kohler Marabou Vanity
In addition to the custom vanities we design in-house, we love the Kohler line of tailored vanities. The Kohler Marabou, pictured above, has many finish and drawer combinations and plenty of storage options. These are perfect for makeup storage and organizing grooming tools.
King of the medicine cabinets, Robern, has a line of beautiful mirrored options. These aren’t your grandmother’s medicine cabinets. Many have magnetic bars perfect for storing metal beauty supplies (like those pesky bobby pins.) Some even have charging stations for your smart phone and televisions connected through wifi so you can move from one room of the house to the bathroom without missing a moment.
Lighting in a master bathroom is extremely important, especially for getting ready. But just because lighting here is utilitarian doesn’t mean it can’t be beautiful. Plenty of lighting manufacturers offer options for chic bath lighting. If you have the space, sconces on the sides of your mirror (or linear lighting on your mirror) provide the best, most even light source. You can also add ambient light with recessed cans or a chandelier, as shown above.
