SINKS / LAVATORIES
Utility Sinks
Utility sinks are designed to handle larger cleaning jobs in the mudroom, utility room, garage, and laundry room. They are available in stainless steel, fireclay, cast iron, and composite materials.
Just because these sinks are utilitarian in nature, does not mean they have to look utilitarian. Many utility sinks are available to blend it with Contemporary, Old World, Farmhouse, and Period architectural styles.

Laundry Sinks/Tubs/Trays
The most durable laundry tubs were made of cement, and quite popular in the 1920s, 30s and 40s.

Extremely heavy and impervious to almost any type of damage short of a sledge hammer, these tubs had a life expectancy of 50 years or more. However, they did have a tendency to crack at the base, near the drain. Some older homes still have these tubs in use.

Traditional styled laundry tubs, such as this single tub design from Swanstone, are available in fiberglass, polypropylene, structural foam and molded stone. Laundry tubs are approximately 22" wide and 22" deep, and hold approximately 22 gallons of water. They are often used to drain washing machines where access to a wall drain is unavailable

These tubs are available in single or double tub models and can be mounted on steel legs, or wall mounted. Most feature ribbed tub construction, molded-in self-draining soap dishes and molded-in drain stoppers. Some have molded-in wash boards
Drop-in laundry sinks are also available for counter top installation.

Some are the same size as the traditional laundry tub, others are more like deep kitchen sinks (9" to 10" deep), holding approximately 8 gallons of water.
The Jentle Jet™ Laundry Sink features a Washboard Front, Recessed Soap Dish, 3 Micro-Jets, 1HP Pump, Light Draw Suction With Filter, Air Volume Control and Pneumatic on/off Button.
The whirlpool action adjusts from a gentle swirl for lightweight items, to vigorous action for heavier ones. Perfect for the laundry room, bathroom, home spa or garage, the basin holds up to one large, bulky sweater, two blouses or five pieces of lingerie, hosiery or swimwear.
Made of durable, lightweight Lucite and cast-acrylic, it's also easy to install and care for, and it's available in over 60 high-gloss designer colors. Average Fill: 5 gallons Maximum Fill: 9 gallons.
Service/Mop Sinks
Service or Mop sinks are usually found in the janitor's closet, and may take many different shapes, depending on need and space constraints. They are available in stainless steel, molded stone and terrazzo.
Service sinks are beginning to find their way into residential use. The mop sink is ideal for the laundry, mud room or garage. Installed at floor level, a mop sink eliminates the need to lift heavy buckets of water when filling or emptying and convenience when cleaning unusual sized items.
Drop front models make mop handling even easier. Mop sink faucets are wall mounted, roughly waist high, and often have spouts connected to a hose for more flexibility (and less splashing).
Terrazzo Service Sinks
Terrazzo, a combination of white Portland cement and gray marble chips, is extremely heavy. A typical terrazzo service/mop sink can weigh as much as 50 lbs. This material resists stains and moisture, and can easily be returned to a fresh appearance after heavy use. Stern WIlliams' Cornaro terrazzo service sink is pictured here.
Molded Stone Mop Sinks
Mustee's DURASTONE® Mop Basins is ideal for residential use when it's time to clean bulky items (dirty toys, garden tools, etc.) and groom family pets. Install one in your basement, garage, breezeway, patio, etc.
